Got Questions?
We Have Got Straight Answers.
Switching to renewable energy or upgrading your home can feel like a big step. Below you will find clear, smart answers to the most common questions about our services, grants, and how it all works.
Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Do ASHPs work in the UK winter?
Yes – modern air source heat pumps are designed to work efficiently even in cold conditions, including Scottish winters. They extract heat from the air even at -15°C.
Will I need to replace all my radiators?
Not always. Some homes will need larger radiators or underfloor heating to get the best results – we will assess this during your survey.
How much can I save?
The Energy Saving Trust provide useful information on the potential annual savings. You can take a closer look by visiting their website.
Can I get a grant?
You may qualify for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) or Home Energy Scotland (for households in Scotland) which offers £7,500 towards an ASHP install subject to eligibility criteria.
Solar PV Panels
Do solar panels work in cloudy weather?
Absolutely. They work best in direct sunlight but still generate electricity on cloudy or overcast days – just at a lower rate.
What if my roof does not face south?
East or west-facing roofs can still work well. We will assess your orientation and shading to give you a performance estimate.
How long do solar panels last?
According to the Energy Saving Trust solar panels typically last 25-30 years. Most systems have manufacturer warranties and minimal maintenance requirements.
Can I sell electricity back to the grid?
Yes – with a smart meter and SEG (Smart Export Guarantee), you can earn for excess energy sent back to the grid.
Battery Storage Systems
Can I add a battery storage system to an existing solar solution?
Yes. We can retrofit batteries to many existing systems to help you store and use more of your own energy.
Will I still have power during a blackout?
Some battery storage systems offer backup functionality – we will advise you on which models include this feature.
EV Charging Points
Can you install a charger at my home?
Yes, we install home EV chargers for all major electric vehicle types. All installs are carried out by OZEV-approved electricians.
Do I need off-street parking?
Ideally yes – but we can advise on safe options for properties without driveways too.
Are grants available for chargers?
In some cases, yes – especially for landlords or flat owners. Ask us and we will check eligibility criteria for you.
Insulation Services
What type of insulation do you install?
We offer loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, internal and external wall insulation – all compliant with current regulations.
How much heat can I lose through poor insulation?
According to research from the Energy Saving Trust – up to 35% of heat loss can be through uninsulated walls, and 25% through the roof.
Inspections & Repairs
Do you service systems installed by other companies?
Yes. We can inspect and repair most renewable energy systems, even if we did not install them.
How often should I service my ASHP or solar system?
We recommend an annual check-up to keep everything running efficiently and within warranty guidelines.
Funding & Grants
What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
A government scheme that offers a £7,500 grant for installing an air source heat pump (subject to eligibility).
What is the ECO4 scheme?
ECO4 offers fully or partially funded upgrades (like insulation, new heating systems or smart controls) to homes that are expensive to heat. You may qualify if your home has a low EPC rating and you receive certain types of support.
Can you explain the grants and funding options?
Yes, we can provide guidance on the various funding options and the grants that you could be eligible for.
FAQs for Scotland
Do your systems work in the Scottish climate?

Do you cover remote or rural areas?
Yes – we install across much of Scotland, including Ayrshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fife, Dundee, Aberdeen, and parts of the Highlands.
Can you assess my home in person?
Yes. Our Kilmarnock-based team offers in-person surveys across Scotland.
